Deep Thoughts from Elton John and Cat Stevens

Recently, I stumbled across two videos at youtube of a couple of great artists, that stood out not just because of some fine songs, but because of some very thoughtful and moving words that preceded them:

"There are many people around in the world today who are building, and many people who are also destroying. Unfortunately for many children who have just arrived in this world, as they look around, their world is in ruins. This is a song about that..." the singer/songwriter formerly known as Cat Stevens.

"This song was written for an album in the early 70's...it's a song that deals with violence in America in about the year 1973. When Bernie wrote the song, we thought things would get better, not worse...well, 30 years on down the line things have gotten worse. So the song is more relevant than when it was written and it's called "Ticking.""
