Political Star Trek 1: The Search For Obama's Running Mate

BarackWill Hillary be Barack Obama's running mate? "The Audacity of Nope."

lucyBeing that having Hillary Clinton as your running mate in a presidential race would be sort of like sharing a ticket with Lucy from Peanuts, I am guessing that this will not happen. So what are the traits and characteristics of a proper running mate for Barack Obama, that will help balance out the ticket?

yodaWhat is needed is someone to counterbalance Obama's youth and supposed inexperience, to assuage the doubts of the American people. A wise elder, a learned master like Yoda, who can educate young Barack in the ways of "the force." Please see the accompanying film found at youtube, "The Empire Strikes Barack":

Al GoreBut not only must this Vice Presidential pick have the qualities of wisdom and experience, but must be someone who has the unwavering admiration of the American people. Somebody who understands the complexities and intricacies of issues like global warming, and the geopolitical ramifications of all United States policies on such important matters. Al Gore has already occupied the office of vice president, but perhaps a younger, fresher, more handsome version of Al Gore. Perhaps someone like Daxflame (aka Bernice Juach, aka Madison Patrello). Please view the related clip below concerning the repsonse of humanity to the urgent issue of climate change:

This is a choice which can not be taken lightly, as the selection of a Vice Presidential running mate is one of the key decisions a candidate will make, and is a great indicator of not only a presidential candidate's political judgment, but their ability to size up someone's character, ability, and quality of leadership, which will be so crucial in helping our nation to get back on track. Please stay tuned to this blog for the second installment in this series...

UPSET! Congratulations David Cook!

"David I will take this opportunity to apologize because I think I was verging on disrespectful with you..." Simon Cowell told David Cook right before Ryan Seacrest announced the winner of American Idol 7.YouTube - DAVID COOK WINNER!!! of American Idol 7 w/ "Time Of My Life" It almost seems as though everyone knew what was coming, as Simon tried to save face with his apology, and the overwhelming favorite David Archuleta didn't seem particularly surprised as it was revealed that David Cook had won the competition. Cook, overcome with emotion, had tears in his eyes, as this Rocky Balboa come-from-nowhere success story reached it's climax. Cook even seemed to outdo the original Rocky character, as he won the championship without even needing one sequel.

Other highlights of the evening was George Michael's very moving performance of "Praying For Time."

George Michael has had his problems in recent years, and as a result he has become greatly under appreciated. He pretty much stole the show last night, with this performance (although he said he had a cold). He did sound a teeny bit under the weather compared to past performances of "Praying For Time." You can check out those, as well as some other great George Michael moments at some of the links below:

"Praying For Time" is becoming one of those American Idol standards, as Carrie Underwood performed it on this year's "Idol Gives Back."

So, who do you think did the better job?

Bob Dylan and John Lennon Cab Ride

"Do you suffer from sore eyes, groovy forehead, or curly hair? Take Zimdon!," John Lennon says to a droopy Bob Dylan in this footage from the 1966 documentary "Eat the Document." The scene was recreated in the recent film "I'm Not There" I'm Not There clip - Cate Blanchett

Some theorize that Dylan was trying to set Lennon up in this "scene", and it backfired on him. In other words, some think Dylan was attempting to make Lennon uncomfortable, or trying to provoke him with some obnoxious comments or bizarre behavior, just to get some interesting footage for a documentary. I kind of doubt that, as Bob seems a bit too out of sorts to be plotting anything quite so devious. What do YOU think? Here's ALL the footage:
(Full) Bob Dylan and John Lennon in a Car. Part 1
(Full) Bob Dylan and John Lennon in a Car Part 2

Here is Dylan verbally manhandling a Time Magazine reporter in the documentary "Don't Look Back." Having become accustomed to the far more mellow, laid back Dylan of recent years, I was surprised to see how brash, and audacious he was in some of this old footage...

Lennon's attitude toward the press and others in general seemed to be much more gracious, and urbane...

In these interview clips we, can see the contrasting psyches of these two music giants which would clash in what will forever be known as...

THE BOB DYLAN-JOHN LENNON CAB RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geez, sounds like a horror movie, or a ride at an amusement park or somethin'....

Advice For Miley Cyrus

It appears that everyone and their grandmother is in a huff about the recent controversy swirling about concerning photos of Miley Cyrus (both ones taken privately and ones taken in a photo shoot for Vanity Faire magazine). Ok, let's learn a little bit more...

Here is what America's most important celebrities are saying on the matter:

“Look, we have so few role models, particularly for little girls in this country. She is the main one. I hate to see this…" Bill O'reilly.

"Leave Miley Cyrus alone," Rosie O'Donnell.

"The picture disturbs me," Howard Stern said.

"Everybody makes their mistakes," Joe Jonas.

“Miley, first song, I loved hearing your lower register, which we never really hear… the second song- I felt like your usual charm was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty,” Paula Abdul.

"The personal lives and decisions of famous people are none of anyone's business! Famous people need to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity! Especially famous muppets!" Big Bird.

Ok, Big Bird didn't really say that, and actually that was Paula's critique of Jason Castro's performance last night...but the rest of the quotes are totally accurate! So, why is America so up in arms about all this?? "Why is the country in this frenzy, Jimmy Fungus??" you ask. Well, stay tuned to this blog, my friends, because I will unwrap this mystery in the coming days.
